“Demopratiche”: the book dedicated to the second edition of Rebirth Forum Roma has been released

Now available online for free download, the volume “Demopratiche. Rebirth Forum Roma – Second edition” brings together reflections, documents and contributions that emerged from the second edition of the forum held in the Italian capital from 3 to 7 May 2025. Contributors include texts by Paolo Naldini, Francesco Saverio Teruzzi, Giorgio de Finis, Alice Buzzone and Andrew Percy, as well as an interview with Michelangelo Pistoletto exploring the role of art as a social practice capable of activating concrete transformations in local territories.

Every city, town or metropolis is invited to become both cradle and stage of a phase in which people, united in communities of practice as forms of governance, can truly achieve the promise of democracy: the government of a people that governs itself.” This quotation, featured on the cover of the book Demopratiche. Rebirth Forum Roma – Second edition, announces and highlights the key themes of the volume, published in the Riflessioni series of the Museo delle periferie and produced in collaboration with Cittadellarte and the Order of Architects of Rome. In just under 100 pages, the book gathers insights, in-depth analyses and reflections on Rebirth Forum Roma, held from 3 to 7 May 2025 at the Casa dell’Architettura (all details are available in a previous article and in a previous interview — also included in the volume — with Giorgio de Finis, artistic director of the Museo delle periferie and artistic director of IPER Festival). The event brought together participants and organizations from a wide range of fields — more than one hundred in total — to engage with the many challenges facing the Italian capital.

The editorial project, curated by Giorgio de Finis and published by Bordeaux edizioni, makes accessible the reflections and proposals developed within the framework of the Opera demopratica. The publication documents the Forum as an artistic, civic and political device grounded in responsibility and collective intelligence, in line with the vision of the Art of Demopraxy and with the path toward the “Statodellarte.” Contributions include texts by Cittadellarte director Paolo Naldini; Francesco Saverio Teruzzi, coordinator of the Rebirth/Terzo Paradiso ambassadors; Alice Buzzone, councillor of the Order of Architects PPC of Rome and Province and director of the Festival of Architecture of Rome; Andrew Percy, vice-president of the Social Prosperity Network at the Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP); and an interview with Michelangelo Pistoletto highlighting the role of art as a social practice capable of activating concrete transformations across territories.

The publication also includes the Forum’s restitution document and the Manifesto of Urban Rebirth, which synthesizes the visions and proposals that emerged from the ten working tables dedicated to housing, environment, participation, education, peripheries and social justice. The volume can be downloaded free of charge online, with the aim of publicly sharing the content and perspectives developed during the initiative and supporting the continuity of demopractic work sites activated at both local and international levels.
