In the city of Bologna, the Public Program accompanying the exhibition Michelangelo Pistoletto. From Cittadellarte to the State of Art, on view until 3 June 2026 at Palazzo Boncompagni, continues. Curated by Silvia Evangelisti, the project is conceived as an open system: not only an exhibition, but a platform for public activation composed of meetings, discussion tables, and participatory moments.

At the core of this framework is the Love Difference Table, a symbolic and operative work by Michelangelo Pistoletto, activated as a space for exchange and dialogue. Integrated within the exhibition path, the Table opens to the public through a series of encounters curated by Chiara Belliti, conceived as “exercises in civility” that accompany the exhibition by creating opportunities for direct dialogue across disciplines, experiences, and perspectives.

Following the first meeting on 10 February, Art, Spirituality and Religion, dedicated to interreligious dialogue as a practice of responsibility and coexistence, the program continues with a new event addressing one of the most pressing issues of our time. On 20 April 2026 at 6:00 pm, the second table, Ethics, Politics, Artificial Intelligence, will take place, focusing on the relationship between technological development and human responsibility.

For Pistoletto, artificial intelligence represents an extraordinary opportunity: the possibility for humanity to gather and interconnect thoughts through networks, algorithms, and complex systems. At the same time, spiritual traditions point to a crucial limit: calculation does not exhaust meaning, and efficiency does not necessarily coincide with what is good. This tension forms the basis of the 20 April discussion.

The meeting brings together voices from different fields, creating an interdisciplinary dialogue that connects art, technology, law, politics, and spirituality. Participants include Michelangelo Pistoletto alongside Francesco Monico and Antonio Spadaro, in conversation with representatives of the academic world such as Francesco Ubertini, former Rector of the University of Bologna and President of Cineca and iFAB, Francesca Lagioia, expert in the ethical and legal issues of artificial intelligence, and Rita Cucchiara, Rector of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The discussion is further enriched by the legal perspective of Luigi Balestra, full professor of civil law at the University of Bologna, addressing the regulatory and civil implications of emerging technologies.

Through this exchange, the Table becomes a concrete space to discuss ongoing transformations, bringing together different perspectives to address the ethical and political implications of artificial intelligence.

The program will continue on 4 May 2026 with the third meeting, Fashion, Costume, Enterprise, dedicated to the role of fashion and business in the contemporary context. Admission is free, subject to availability.
