Father Franco Moscone supports Pistoletto's candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Archbishop of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo, after a meeting with Rebirth/Terzo Paradiso ambassador Stefano del Bravo, endorsed the maestro's candidacy in a video statement: "I signed the petition and invite my diocesan confreres and fellow citizens of Gargano to do the same, if they wish. Pistoletto founded the idea and action of preventive peace".

Michelangelo Pistoletto

Support for Michelangelo Pistoletto's candidacy for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize continues to grow, from every corner of the peninsula and around the world. Among the diverse figures—professional, generational, and geographical—supporting the nomination are religious authorities. The support of Franco Moscone, a Catholic archbishop originally from Serralunga d'Alba, who, since November 3, 2018, has been appointed the 130th archbishop of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo, has also been announced. Father Moscone, after a meeting with Stefano Del Bravo of Siponto, in his capacity as Rebirth/Terzo Paradiso ambassador, decided to highlight his support with a video posted on SipoMedia's YouTube channel. The artist and the cleric share not only their home region, Piedmont, but above all a profound commitment to peace.

"Pistoletto created Cittadellarte", the archbishop began, "and the Trinamic symbol of the Third Paradise, which is intended to be a call to peace. He founded the idea and action of Preventive Peace, which is much better than preventive war. Today", he emphasized, "there is an extreme need for peace, and peace now, without any other adjectives to describe it. Peace must be made immediately and prevents any other action". Father Moscone then highlighted his support for the master: "I am happy to have learned of Michelangelo's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize by the Gorbachev Foundation. I have signed the application and I invite my diocesan confreres and fellow citizens of Gargano to do the same, if they wish. Let us not forget", he concluded, "to pray and work for peace: perhaps this support can also become a gesture of preventative and perpetual peace".

Behind the scenes of this appeal, as mentioned, was the meeting with Del Bravo: "On September 2nd, I met Father Franco Moscone", the ambassador explained, "thanks to his secretary Massimo Verderosa and a well-known journalist from Manfredonia, Antonio Castriotta. I was welcomed at the Episcopal Curia of the Cathedral of Manfredonia, with great curiosity and surprise by Father Franco, who immediately responded to my request for help with the petition in favor of Michelangelo Pistoletto". The conversation with the priest was significant: "I announced that I was an ambassador for the Third Paradise and told him about Cittadellarte's and Michelangelo's commitment to peace and Preventive Peace, which he has been fighting for so many years. Everything we do", Del Bravo explained, "has immediately received approval from Father Moscone, who hasn't hesitated to publish his video message on all the social media platforms of the dioceses he represents. He has signed the petition for Michelangelo to receive this well-deserved 2025 Nobel Peace Prize and has extended the invitation not only to the entire Gargano community but also to all his contacts, confident that art can be a great instrument of peace".

The ambassador concluded by thanking the archbishop: "Father Franco is a great activist and supporter of peace. Recalling his speech a few months ago from the Bari waterfront, specifically in favor of peace and against all war (which was covered in newspapers throughout Italy), I could not help but ask for his support for such a noble purpose. The words of the Gospel have not been denied: 'Knock and it will be opened to you.' I therefore thank Father Franco for his openness, kindness, humility, and broad vision that characterize a great man, who, by pure coincidence, is also Piedmontese, just like Michelangelo. We have thus ideally united, through the great bridge of peace, Puglia with Piedmont and the world".
