Ten years after the "Rebirth" installation in Geneva, Pistoletto and Spadaro return to the Palais des Nations with Spirituality

On Wednesday, December 3, the founder of Cittadellarte and the Jesuit priest will present the book "Spirituality" at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, in a discussion moderated by Francesco Monico. The meeting, by invitation only, coincides with the tenth anniversary of "Rebirth," the permanent work dedicated to the Member States of the United Nations, created in 2015 for the Palais des Nations Park.

Michelangelo Pistoletto

Today at 1:00 PM, the Palais des Nations in Geneva, the European headquarters of the United Nations, will host the presentation of the book Spirituality, co-authored by Michelangelo Pistoletto and Jesuit Antonio Spadaro. The invitation-only event will be led by Francesco Monico, professor and head of the Spirituality Office at Cittadellarte.

The meeting marks a significant date: ten years have passed since the inauguration of Rebirth, the permanent work Pistoletto created in the Palais des Nations Park on October 24, 2015, to mark the 70th anniversary of the UN. The sculpture is composed of 193 stones, one for each Member State, arranged in the shape of the Third Paradise.

This is the context in which Spirituality is presented, a book that brings together shared reflections on the relationship between artistic research, interiority, and civic responsibility. The book offers a two-way discussion on how the spiritual dimension, understood as orientation, not as religious affiliation, can impact daily choices and social practices.

The dialogue will explore the points of contact between Pistoletto's artistic career, Spadaro's cultural analysis, and the activities developed by Cittadellarte in the spirit of the Third Paradise. The venue helps contextualize the discussion, recalling the UN's role in promoting international cooperation and sustainable development.

The tenth anniversary of Rebirth thus offers an opportunity to revisit the work in its relationship to the present and to connect its symbolic significance with the themes addressed in the new book: the need to connect thought and action, individual care and collective commitment. Ten years after its creation, the installation continues to be a point of reference for reflecting on shared global responsibilities.
