The mission of Fondazione Pistoletto Cittadellarte is to inspire and produce a transformation of society in a responsible sense, bringing balance in place of imbalances through the engagement of art at the center of every sector of human activity and between one and the other.
In response to the challenge of imbalance, Cittadellarte proposes a new synthesis for man and society, capable of overcoming the current condition of betrayal of progress and realizing the ideal of Democracy through the development of Demopraxia: the governance of society through the engagement of art and the trinamic formula in every practical organization of every sector of human activity.
Cittadellarte is a platform for change at the service of global communities, using art to activate and lead processes of social transformation.
Cittadellarte proposes new methods of active cultural participation that produce positive social, environmental, and cultural impacts on people and territories.
Cittadellarte welcomes Italian and international businesses and Third Sector organizations that share the same values and visions of impact, to develop increasingly ambitious programs together in three areas: Learning & Education, Empower Heritage, Engage Art.
Learning & Education
How to learn how to learn? How to learn to change?
Cittadellarte is a school, where the critical issues of the world are identified, in order to find new educational methods.
The strategic axis Learning & Education considers learning and research as conditions of humanity: the constant and ubiquitous commitment of people to realize their own dimension as a singular subject, author and co-author, interconnected and an agent in ecological and cultural systems.
It includes the Action Lines dedicated to learning at every age and stage of life, from children to adults, and is aimed not only at individuals, but also at groups as organizations constituting the social fabric. It consists of three activity lines (Uffizi): Learning and Training Environments, Unidee Academy, and UNIDEE Residency programs, which together aim to position Cittadellarte as a European hub for formal and informal education and a research body, through artistic practices, addressing contemporary issues by spreading knowledge and awareness, in partnership and network with local, regional, national, and international institutions and with research and formal and informal education centers worldwide.
Empower Heritage
What is the new myth today? Does giving utopia a place, a venue, and a project mean overcoming it?
Art is the most sensitive and integral expression of thought, and it is time for the artist to take on the responsibility of connecting all other human activities.
The strategic axis of Empower Heritage concerns the enhancement of Cittadellarte’s heritage through an innovative way of experiencing the in-situ experience and a broad communication action that involve:
- The buildings and the architectural and urban complex;
- The collection of Pistoletto's works and Arte Povera and the temporary exhibitions;
- The artistic and civic projects and initiatives that Cittadellarte has realized and continues to realize.
The Empower Heritage sector focuses on the development of the "Cultural Baths," which organize immersive experiential engagement — through the experience produced by art — of the Myth of the Third Paradise, Pistoletto’s work, the Art of Demopraxia, and the activities of the various Uffizi of Cittadellarte and its Embassies, bringing Cittadellarte to be recognized as a sustainable cultural tourism and regeneration attraction on an international level.

The Third Paradise is the great myth that leads everyone to take personal responsibility in the global vision.
The strategic line Engage Art means placing art at the center of the responsible transformation of society, creating connections across all different social sectors in order to rebalance imbalances and activate, through art, a sense of shared responsibility and the ability to co-create. This line develops theories and methods, projects, and actions that engage art in society, in all areas of human necessity, and in the very construction of the world.
The development of this strategic line contributes to positioning Cittadellarte as a culturally significant HUB, capable of driving concrete transformations in the organizational systems of living at a local level across various fundamental sectors and within international interlocal networks. At the same time, it brings about paradigm shifts and radical innovation, leading to spaces and devices for co-creation and co-responsibility.
