Educational Activities for Schools

As part of its educational initiatives, Cittadellarte offers guided tours and workshops for school classes of all levels and various types of groups: from hands-on activities for primary and lower secondary schools to pathways for transversal skills and orientation (PCTO) aimed at upper secondary schools. Activities take place in the workshop areas of Cittadellarte and within the exhibition route featuring the works of Michelangelo Pistoletto.

Discovering Michelangelo Pistoletto and Cittadellarte

Duration

2 hours

Audience

Price

€ 7.00

Come and explore Cittadellarte and the work of Michelangelo Pistoletto through an exclusive guided experience. Founded by Michelangelo Pistoletto in 1998, Cittadellarte was created as a place for cultural and artistic exchange, where art serves as a catalyst for research and innovation across all areas of human life—from education to fashion, architecture to nutrition, politics to spirituality. The guided tour is tailored to the interests and goals of your class or group, following a preliminary discussion with our staff. During the visit, you will discover Cittadellarte’s key projects and delve into the artistic journey of its founder, Michelangelo Pistoletto. You may also combine the tour with one of the workshop activities listed below.

D.N.A. Audience

Duration

3-4 hours

Audience

6-11 years

Price

€ 10.00

(Dynamics between Nature and Artifice) This workshop reflects on the concept of balance represented by the symbol of the Third Paradise. Balance arises from a dynamic exchange, the interaction of two elements coming together. Nature and artifice, within the central circle of the Third Paradise, strive for balance—understood as humanity's awareness of the dynamics that, over time, have created a deep rift between the two elements, and the subsequent actions taken to restore harmony between them. During the workshop, the children will have the opportunity to reflect on these dynamics through a series of exercises on balance and imbalance as a creative process, eventually creating a collective "balanced" installation, which arises from the combinatory principle of elements but also from the encounter and relationship between the children.

Geographical Contrasts – Love Difference

Duration

3-4 hours

Audience

Price

€ 10.00

A creative exploration of the geographical features of our planet. We isolate the physical characteristics of our planet and create, using water and clay, geographical contrasts: island/lake, peninsula/gulf, strait/isthmus... To do this, we use two basic elements: earth and water. Geographical contrasts unite all of humanity and can become a lens through which to analyze the polarities that either intensify conflicts or foster opportunities for creative sharing.

Myths in the Mirror: Venus and Narcissus

Duration

3-4 hours

Audience

11-14 years

Price

€ 10.00

Two thematic journeys on "myth" through the works of Michelangelo Pistoletto. The first path, called "Venus," delves into the classical myth, tracing the historical excursus from the big bang and the formation of Venus, through prehistory and primitive Venus figurines, to the classical and Renaissance representation of beauty, up to Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Venus of the Rags and his latest manifesto. In this context, we explore creativity, gender asymmetry in history, and the relationship between Earth, the Solar System, and the Cosmos, the latter as a continuation of the "Life-Space3" project, a collaboration between Michelangelo Pistoletto, Cittadellarte, astronaut Paolo Nespoli, and the European Space Agency. The second path, called "Narcissus," aims to explore self-discovery through the mirror, the selfie, and the self-portrait. Through the reading of Michelangelo Pistoletto’s works, we will examine the history of the self-portrait up to the Third Paradise. The activities include exercises and experiences aimed at promoting self-analysis, not as vanity but as growth, reflecting on one’s relationship with others for the healthy and conscious development of personal relationships.

(d)estructura: a Social Cartography through a Game

Duration

3-4 hours

Audience

11-18 years

Price

€ 10.00

Analyze your community through play. Ten colored pieces, a spinning top, and one question: these are the keys to the new game “(d)estructura,” created by the collective El puente_lab, composed of Juan Esteban Sandoval, Alejandro Vásquez Salinas, and Mariangela Aponte Núñez. This is not just a simple recreational activity, but an alternative tool for analyzing and observing social relationships within a community, gathering data within the context of a specific project. The board game begins with a question posed to the participants, which is answered through a step-by-step journey filled with reflections, colors, and discussions among the players. What might appear as a simple pastime is actually the activator of a microcosm, the mirror of a microcommunity.

Workshop Activities

The visit and workshop activity lasts approximately 3-4 hours, and the timing is also tailored to the needs of the class. We recommend that classes "break up" the activity with a lunch break, with a suggested time frame from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Cittadellarte offers covered and heated spaces where you can enjoy a packed lunch, or, if desired, you can have lunch at our Café Al Bistrot le Arti, with prior reservation.

PCTO

Cittadellarte offers the opportunity to carry out activities tailored to the educational pathway of individual classes, useful for obtaining school credits related to the "Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e per l’Orientamento" (PCTO).

The offer includes the possibility for students and teachers to stay for a short period at Cittadellarte and develop projects that combine art and sustainability, guided by sector experts.

Target audience: last three years of high school.

Cittadellarte – In First Person

In Cittadellarte – In First Person program, students will have the opportunity to directly experience the activities carried out by our offices, particularly in the fields of sustainable fashion (B.E.S.T.), and sustainable nutrition and marketing (Let Eat Bi).

The project has been successfully tested in previous years, starting from 2017, with positive results from the Liceo Artistico Russel Fontana in Arese (MI), Liceo Artistico Cardarelli in La Spezia, and Liceo Volta in Milan, in collaboration with fashion designers from our B.E.S.T. platform, Armona Pistoletto, president of Let Eat Bi, and her collaborators.

Discover what the involved students think.

Manifestation – ManifestAction!

In the Manifestation – ManifestAction! program, students will organize and participate in actual working groups focused on contemporary issues related to sustainability. The transition from manifestation to manifest action, through artistic creation, is the first step in coherently interpreting, performing, and bringing into daily life the challenge of reconciling humanity, its planet, and its inhabitants. The idea for the program stems from the experience of the second Rebirth Forum in Melbourne and is developed within a similar initiative carried out in 2019 with the students of Fridays for Future Biella.

The students’ work culminated in a final installation presented at BASE during Milan Design Week. The very title of the installation, “Un-Learn / Re-Learn / Re-Act,” highlights the need to "put into practice" the results of the working group within each organization, translating it into action and passing it on to others.
