An artistic path being (re)traced: the twentieth anniversary of the Third Paradise of San Servolo is celebrated
On November 29th, an event will be held to celebrate the "birthday" of the trinamic installation on the Venetian Lagoon island. Three key events will be held, featuring Michelangelo Pistoletto and a host of special guests: the presentation of the book "From the Third Paradise to the Formula of Creation," the investiture of Umberto Vattani as Honorary Ambassador of the Third Paradise, and the performance "TRIKÂLA - Towards the Tuning of the Third Paradise."
To mark the 20th anniversary of Michelangelo Pistoletto's Third Paradise installation, created barefoot for the 51st Venice Art Biennale in 2005 on the island of San Servolo, and the 30th anniversary of the Venice International University, a special celebration is planned for next Saturday that will symbolically transform San Servolo into the Third Paradise Island. The ceremony marking the twentieth anniversary of the work will also unveil the path blazed by Cittadellarte's founder in 2005. "On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Third Paradise," the organizers explain, "Michelangelo Pistoletto returns to San Servolo to celebrate the work that symbolizes his artistic and social commitment, created here for the first time. The island, once again, becomes a meeting place between art, nature, and collective responsibility, the very heart of Pistoletto's vision."
Presentation of the book "From the Third Paradise to the Formula of Creation"
The initiative will kick off with the presentation in the Sala del Teatro of the book From the Third Paradise to the Formula of Creation published by Treccani, which collects texts and images from countless events on the trinamic symbol held around the world over the years. The meeting will be introduced by Massimo Bray, Director General of the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia Institute, introduced by Umberto Vattani, Ambassador and President of Venice International University, and moderated by Fortunato D'Amico, coordinator of the book and curator of the meeting. A series of presentations will follow, featuring the following speakers: Valentino Catricalà, editor of the book; Paolo Naldini, director of Cittadellarte; Michelangelo Pistoletto; Antonio Spadaro, Undersecretary of the Vatican Dicastery for Culture and Education; Francesco Monico, Head of the Spirituality Office of Cittadellarte; and Francesco Saverio Teruzzi, coordinator of the Rebirth/Third Paradise ambassadors. Academic and institutional presentations will explore the meaning of the work and its dialogue with social responsibility, culture, and the future.
Umberto Vattani Honorary Ambassador of the Third Paradise
Michelangelo Pistoletto, for the occasion, will award a plaque appointing Umberto Vattani as Honorary Ambassador of the Third Paradise, a gesture that will seal not only a personal commitment but also a new chapter in the dissemination of the message and its artistic, cultural, environmental, economic, and political implications for the achievement of Preventive Peace.
Ritual of Renewal: TRIKÂLA - Towards the Tuning of the Third Paradise
Following, at 12:15 pm in the Aula Magna of the Venice International University, students from the Guggenheim Art School and the Marco Polo Music School in Venice, in collaboration with students from the Master in Globality of Languages MusicArTerapia in Rome, will perform the live sound performance TRIKÂLA: Towards the Tuning of the Third Paradise (the result of a sound composition by Nicola Cisternino, an artistic workshop curated by Stefania Guerra Lisi, and an environmental project conceived by Giovanni Leone), a collective action that will renew the gesture of rebirth and regeneration.
The Timeless Furrow
The ceremony will conclude at 12:50 pm with the unveiling of the furrow traced by Michelangelo Pistoletto exactly twenty years ago, in 2005. To commemorate its origins and artistic and cultural significance, a A commemorative plaque. This gesture will restore the original symbol of the Third Paradise to the island, reviving the memory of its first public manifestation, the creation, in 2005, of the furrow of the new sign of Infinity on the land of San Servolo, which marked the founding act of this project and its promotion in the world of contemporary art.
