As of today, June 2025, over 10 demopractic Operas are active or about to be started in the world: Biella with its Demopractic Archipelago, launched in 2019; Havana (the first, started in 2015 and renewed every year since then); Geneva (2023, 2024 and 2025); Rome (2019 and 2025); Villa Manin/Gorizia/Nova Goriza (2024 and 2025); L’Aquila (2025); Busto Arsizio (2025); Seoul (2025), London-Liverpool-Edinburgh (2025), Brněnec (2025). Those in Melbourne (2017, 2019 2021); Bali (2018); Madrid (2022); Quito (2019); Buenos Aires (2020); Curitiba (2022); Milan (2016, 2017); Latronico (2019, 2022).

In each of these cities an experience of development, experimentation and declination of the demopractic method has been taking place; an experience or in many cases more than one, since the Operas that continue over the years entail for each year a Forum and the updating of both the Mapping and the Construction Site itself. In total, there are over 35 chapters or reiterations. Approximately more than 5,000 people from a plethora of around a thousand different organisations (or communities of practice) were directly involved as Mappers and Participants.

All the reiterations of the demopractic Opera are accompanied by the Manifestation of the symbol of the Third Paradise, that is, by an installation of the same symbol each time with different materials and specificities, but always in a surprising and unexpected form which is at the same time situated and sensible, that is, embedded within the local context. These are not simple manifestations, but “manifest-actions”, as the symbol is acted out, performed as a device around or within which activities take place. Each Demopractic Opera has hosted artistic performances, often collective and participatory, but sometimes performed by artists in front of an audience of participants and guests. Each demopractic Opera has involved or have been directly co-promoted by local and in some cases national institutions (for example Ministries, Italian Embassies and Italian Cultural Institutes) or international institutions (as in the case of the United Nations), articulating the democracy-demopraxy connection in the perspective of integration and complementarity, according to the lines of shared administration, active citizenship and public-private collaboration.

These real experiences, made by and of people, with their stories, ideas, economic and emotional, political and interpersonal relationships, constitute the foundation of knowledge and practical teachings on which, in 2024, we felt the time had come to build a new phase of the Art of Demopraxy, that is, moving from the Cittadellarte to the Statodellarte. Moving from City to State means recognizing that local experiences constitute the thread necessary to weave a social fabric into life.

Each demopractic Opera is a knot in a tapestry that in recent years has begun to take shape, constituting the still embryonic and evanescent basis of a social infrastructure already intuitable and prefigurable, as the plant is embodied in the seed. In 2025, we enter the second age of the Art of Demopraxy, where the phase of experimentation of new localized Demopractic Operas continues, while at the same time, the research into the form that the network of Demopractic Operas may take is set in motion, thus configuring a threshold passage as in the individual moving from childhood to adolescence. In this sense, the Constitution of the State of the Art responds to the need for this growing organism to be equipped with a healthy and robust body, made up of bones and muscles, organs and tissues, nervous, circulatory, respiratory, lymphatic systems... The demopractic State of the Art aims to connect with national States and with every other form of political organisation of social life, contributing its own nature and vocation as a social body founded on the dynamic binomial of freedom and responsibility.

It is therefore a dimension of contribution and complementarity that aspires to co-exist with current social systems and to best organise the human capacity to produce collective intelligence, uniting individuals, groups, systems and ecosystems. Every city, town or metropolis is therefore invited to become the cradle and theatre of this phase in which people, united in communities of practice as governments, can effectively achieve the promise of democracy, that is, the government of the people achieved by a people governing itself, in one word: the Demopraxy.
