Preventive Peace Through Art: The Third Paradise Comes to Munich
From October 13th to 18th, the Bavarian capital hosts an international program of workshops, performances, and exhibitions inspired by the vision of Michelangelo Pistoletto. The initiative, organized by "Working in Projects gUG" in collaboration with Rebirth/Terzo Paradiso ambassadors, involves over 800 students, associations, and institutions in a journey of art, education, and active citizenship.
Munich is set to welcome the trinamic symbol for the very first time. For the entire next week, the city will host an intense program of events that weave together art, education, and social sustainability as part of the festival Das Dritte Paradies – Präventiver Frieden durch Kunst (The Third Paradise – Preventive Peace through Art).
The initiative is promoted by the social enterprise Working in Projects gUG, founded and directed by Anna Conti, the project's curator and the driving force behind its realization in Munich. In synergy with an international network of Rebirth/Third Paradise ambassadors, including Saverio Teruzzi (coordinator of the embassies and international project reference), Grazia Simeone (painter and performer, ambassador since 2017), and Alessandro Alliaudi (creative director and ambassador since 2024), the project was born from the desire to connect artists, schools, and communities in a collective experience of social regeneration through art, inspired by the vision of Cittadellarte.
Workshops, Meetings, and Performances
From October 13 to 17, over 800 students will participate in 35 workshops distributed across Munich schools, dedicated to discovering Michelangelo Pistoletto’s symbol and the values it represents. The activities, which range from life drawing to the creation of images with augmented reality, are carried out in collaboration with the association Valori Attraverso l’Arte (Values Through Art), which is committed to involving students, migrants, and multicultural groups in the Bavarian region.
Specifically, on October 14, starting at 6:00 PM, a creative workshop and an interactive talk with Teruzzi, Simeone, and Alliaudi will be held at the Werksviertel-Mitte event space. Participants will include Renate Grob (actress and director), Corina Toledo (Frau Kunst Politik association), Jarmila Buchova (Morgen eV association), and various artists who will present works dedicated to the theme of peace.
On October 15, an invitation-only evening focused on art and technology is scheduled, dedicated to the testimonies of the teachers and school administrators involved in the project.
The grand finale is on October 18, featuring collective installations, presentations of the completed works, a human chain forming the Third Paradise symbol in Marienplatz, a street art performance by the artist Loomit, and traditional Piedmontese dances by the trio Bagna Cauda.
Art and Community: A Synergy in Motion
"The strength of this project lies in collaboration: schools, migrants, artists, associations, all united by the same desire to build bonds of peace through the universal language of art", says Grazia Simeone. "For me, it is a joy to see how the idea of the Third Paradise can also bloom in Munich, involving different generations and cultures in a single shared vision of rebirth".
During the week, the "doves of peace," conceived by Simeone and inspired by Picasso's symbol, will symbolically fly into the city's schools: two thousand cutouts made by children to represent the value of non-violence and coexistence. The program will also see the participation of international artists, an African designer, and numerous cultural and social associations, forming a true urban mosaic of shared creativity.
A Universal Symbol of Rebirth
The Third Paradise in Munich is therefore not just an art exhibition, but a true experiment in creative coexistence, an invitation to think of the city as a "protected garden," a place where beauty, responsibility, and hope can be cultivated.
