The Third Paradise in Egypt: Paolo Naldini speaks at the panel "Echoes of Myth and Modernity"
Today, November 17, Cittadellarte's director will be a speaker at a talk dedicated to "Forever is Now" at Art D'Égypte by Culturavator, the global contemporary art exhibition running from November 11 to December 6, 2025, located within the Pyramids of Giza. As part of the discussion, Naldini will explore the meanings of the works in the open-air exhibition, presenting the installation of the trinamic symbol, including behind-the-scenes insights, collaborations, and content.
Inviting viewers to explore the mythical and historical layers of the Giza plateau, allowing contemporary voices to reinterpret the meanings of resistance and legacy: this, in short, is the goal of Forever is Now 05, by Art D'Égypte by Culturvator, curated by Nadine A. Ghaffar. This annual exhibition aims to build a culture of interconnection and healing, where perspectives shift and interpretations evolve.
Opening November 11 and concluding December 6, 2025, among the Pyramids of Giza, the exhibition is an ode to the enchantment of ancient Egypt's cultural heritage, while contemporary installations testify to the continuing evolution of art. As reported in a previous article, the initiative brings together a group of international artists, including Michelangelo Pistoletto with Cittadellarte, each committed to reinterpreting the dialogue between past and future through different visual languages: Alexandre Farto, known as Vhils (Portugal), Mert Ege Köse (Turkey), Recycle Group (France and Russia), J-Park (South Korea), Alex Proba & SolidNature, Nadim Karam (Lebanon), Ana Ferrari (Brazil), King Houndekpinkou (West Africa), and Salha El Masry (Egypt).
"As we walk among these timeless monuments", the organizers write, "the exhibition asks us 'What stories will we leave behind? What truths and myths will define us in the future?' In a world of constant transformation, the Pyramids stand as eternal witnesses, challenging us to consider how our present will be woven into the legends of tomorrow".
The Third Paradise among the Pyramids
Pistoletto and Cittadellarte's work, as mentioned, is a Third Paradise installation composed of a series of boulders sourced from local quarries, the same ones used for the renovation and restoration of monuments and the Pyramids. At the center, within the central circle of the Trinamic symbol, is an obelisk: "We wanted the tip", explained Paolo Naldini, director of Cittadellarte, in an interview with Fanpage, "to be that of the pyramid itself. So you have to position yourself in the right position so that the perspective aligns the end of the obelisk with the tip of the pyramid. This is to establish a structural and architectural connection between the two elements. It is reflective because the mirror has been Pistoletto's trademark since the 1960s, and because the mirror confronts us. The whole thing is a question that history asks us about where we are going, where we come from, and who we are".
The Echoes of Myth and Modernity Panel
Paolo Naldini, in Egypt since last Friday along with Armona Pistoletto, President of Let Eat Bi, Emanuele Montibeller, Councilor of Cittadellarte, and Marina Maffei, Executive and Organizational Management of Cittadellarte (group photo above), has been and will be the subject of numerous interviews (an example is shown in the cover image), as well as lectures and talks dedicated to the work. Today, for example, the meeting "Immortality and Continuity — The Legacy of Tomorrow", curated by Art D'Égypte, will be held in Cairo from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The event will feature a series of talks exploring the works of Forever is Now through the voices of its protagonists. One of the four panels, "Echoes of Myth and Modernity", scheduled from 5:55 PM to 6:55 PM (local time), will feature Paolo Naldini.
Cittadellarte's director, who will speak alongside David Solid Nature and Salha El Masry, will be invited to explore the human quest for spiritual continuity, ritual, and rebirth, connecting mythical symbolism to contemporary expression, in his case the Trinamic symbol. Naldini will also offer a series of reflections around four key questions: "How do you address mythical or spiritual dualities in your work? How do ancient narratives manifest themselves in your artistic language? How do you see the artist's role as a bridge between myth and modernity? How does your installation invite reflection on time and rebirth?".
In addition to offering his perspective on the key issues of the debate, the director will also focus on the collaboration between Cittadellarte and the Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo: for Forever Is Now, Accademia Unidee has, together with the Institute, awarded two scholarships to young Egyptian talents. The winners – Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Shoeb for Contemporary Art and Rawan Emad Omar Elfarouk Mohamed Soliman for Sustainable Fashion – were selected from numerous nominations for their ability to interpret the founding values of Michelangelo Pistoletto and Cittadellarte: the role of art as a driver of social change and sustainability as a guiding principle of creativity.
