Between yarns, sport and sustainable fashion: Cittadellarte Fashion B.E.S.T. and Accademia Unidee among the protagonists of “Filo 2026”
The Fashion Office of Fondazione Pistoletto, together with Accademia Unidee, will take part in the new edition of the international fair dedicated to high-end yarns, scheduled for 11–12 February at Rho-Fiera Milano, presenting a joint stand with Lenzing. On Thursday at 11 a.m., as part of the event’s “Dialoghi di confronto” series, the talk Creativity, Fashion and Sport: Responsibility, Performance and Future will feature contributions from Maria Canella, Elena Puccinelli and Olga Pirazzi.
Filo, the international exhibition of yarns and fibres for orthogonal weaving and circular knitting for apparel, furnishings and technical textiles, returns once again. Since 1993, as reported on the event’s official website, it has been a key appointment within the global landscape of textile fairs characterised by high technical and qualitative content, as well as the only international fair organised in Italy specifically dedicated to high-end yarns in a B2B format.
With over 100 exhibitors, the new edition of the fair will take place on 11 and 12 February — from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. respectively — in the halls of Rho-Fiera Milano, where it has been relocated since September 2025. Access to the event remains reserved for industry professionals, who can attend free of charge upon registration on the Filo website. “The exhibiting companies,” the dedicated online portal specifies, “represent the excellence of Italian and international manufacturing within the sector.”
The participation of Cittadellarte’s Fashion Office and Accademia Unidee: the stand and the talk
Fashion B.E.S.T. will once again be present this year, with a stand shared with Lenzing in the main hall (B7). On display will be the costumes created for the performance of Tertium Datur – Expo Osaka 2025 by students of the Sustainable Fashion course at Accademia Unidee, coordinated by lecturers Nelly Hoffman and Renzo Catoni.
A talk will also take place within the framework of Filo’s “Dialoghi di confronto,” scheduled in the Networking Area. The meeting, titled Creativity, Fashion and Sport: Responsibility, Performance and Future, organised also on the occasion of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games and curated by Fondazione Pistoletto Cittadellarte (through its Fashion Office and Accademia Unidee), will be held on Thursday 12 February at 11 a.m. The event will offer a transversal reflection on the relationship between sportswear, performance and responsibility, bringing into dialogue research, technological innovation and cultural memory.
When sport meets sustainability
Sport has long been an advanced laboratory for material experimentation: high-performance fibres, evolved yarns and smart textiles that today, more than ever, are also required to meet environmental, ethical and social criteria. In this context, the talk will explore how sports fashion can embody a broader sense of responsibility, capable of combining high performance, durability, reduced environmental impact and historical awareness. “Sustainability,” the organisers note, “is understood not only as technological innovation but as a cultural process that runs through supply chains, design, communication and archives.”
Through the historical and critical perspective of Maria Canella — Academic Director and Director of the Sustainable Fashion course at Accademia Unidee, as well as a scholar of business, fashion and sport — and the experience of Elena Puccinelli, an expert in archives, heritage and cultural enhancement within the fashion system, the discussion will highlight the role of memory as an active tool for guiding the future choices of the textile and sports industries. Completing the panel will be Olga Pirazzi, Head of the Fashion Office at Cittadellarte, who will offer a concrete perspective on current sector dynamics, including yarn research, sustainability and dialogue with companies.
Olga Pirazzi’s voice
“Cittadellarte Fashion B.E.S.T.’s participation in Filo 2026,” stated Olga Pirazzi, “confirms a model of responsible fashion that integrates education, industry and artistic research. In collaboration with Lenzing Group and Accademia Unidee, we develop practices of sustainable experimentation that place materials, supply chains and social responsibility at the centre, contributing to a vision of fashion as an ethical and shared process.”
